The School's Pupil Premium grant allocation for 2020 to 21 is £59,134

At the present time, Spalding High School has 85 Pupil Premium students in Years 7 to 11.

How we intend to spend the Pupil Premium  2020-21

In light of the current Covid health restrictions, a huge number of trips and visits that would ordinarily be funded by PP will not take place this year. Our priority is use PP funding to support disadvantaged pupils in line with the School’s Covid-related objectives below:
“Academic structures in place to cope effectively with impact of pandemic. Teachers’ (led by HODs) analysis quickly identifies gaps in learning and misconceptions in understanding. Schemes of work and curriculum maps modified to respond quickly to gap analysis and effectively respond to changes as the year progresses. Teachers adapted to new peripatetic nature of teaching and the resultant impact on availability of materials, delivery style and methods of teaching. Measures in place to respond and deal to cases of remote learning brought about by self-isolation or further school closures. Yr11 and Y13 prepared for summer exams.”

Further planned use of PP funding this year:

• GCSE Tutoring as part of the Catch-up programme

• Online music and singing lessons where appropriate

• Financial support for uniforms and school equipment

• Revision Guides and resources for all year groups where needed

• PP to help fund Y8 pastoral mentors, year group support and library services.

Measuring the effectiveness of Pupil Premium expenditure

The Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for internal data (Mr J Blackbourn) routinely tracks the attainment and progress of a number of identifiable groups at all grading points during the school year. All data is formally shared with Heads of Department at departmental meetings and all staff are encouraged to monitor identifiable groups as part of their continuing professional development. The following groups are routinely monitored:

• Pupils in receipt of PP
• Pupils currently in care or who have ever been in care
• EAL and East Midlands Group pupils
• Sixth form pupils who are no longer receiving PP but may be receiving 16 to 19 bursary payments including young carers

The aforementioned AHT maintains the PP action plan which is updated throughout the school year and findings are routinely shared with the senior leadership team, the Headmistress and Governors.
